Answer for: Guild Wars 2 Suggestions
#7 Guild Hall "Village"
Allow the members of a guild to own or inhabit smaller dwellings within the guild hall, a place to display their favorite weapons, plaques with titles, trophies, etc. The dwelling could be personalized, with materials, shape, and size picked by the player

I thought the Hall of Monuments would give us more flexibility to show off achievements and items, but it's much more limited than I thought it would be. A dwelling like you describe would be great, especially if you could invite friends over.
You would run into problems when a guild becomes bigger than 20 or so members. There should be a way to have a place of our own, but still allow other people to come in even if we are not with them.
True, they would need to overcome that, but it has been done in other MMO's. I could imagine an ability to invite people into your dwelling while you are in it. If the recipients are in the Guild Hall, they can simply click "ok" and be warped in.
This could also double as a larger storage area, too, for your entire account.
I answered the topic "How would you make guilds more meaningful to the game?" with what I called "Guild 'Chapters'". This entry includes similar ideas. I hadn't read your entry before I made mine. I've added a note at the end of my entry that references your suggestion here.
You might want to check out my entry, as it includes a system that addresses many of the issues brought up in comments here. It also compliments another entry I wrote in that section called "Guild 'Territories'" that expands the idea further.
I like this idea, but there is the limited space problem. Maybe it could be something exclusive to officers at a cost. At least dwellings that are not separate from the "Guild Hall" instance. I don't know, it's a tough one.
Honestly, I would like to see it as one map that you could have limited space to add to, that only the Guild Leader could give you clearance to add your dwelling/shrine (still thinking you would need officership to qualify too). Though there will be limited space, maybe that would make it something people would desire even more if only a select few individuals in the guild can acquire it. I guess it really just depends on how many members a guild can have, as well as how large a guild hall map will be and how much space will be allocated for these dwellings. Maybe there is a spot you can make a shrine near the front of the instance for a small area, and then their is this space near a stream where you can put a little dwelling that would be more sought after, but you would have to be closer to the Guild leader for them to give you that spot. Hehe, maybe that's a bit much. Either way, this idea has my support.
Well I was thinking the same kind of idea except (not sure if someone else had this idea i didn't read it all) but if they culd keep the foee to add a player into a guild and use half the fee to construct a player owned home designed alot like Sersun's idea and people in the guild could visit and/or guests, and the other half of the fee is to the guild itself for in guild services or expand the guild hall's size, then if a guild member wants to add-on or renovate his/her guild home they can do so by paying more money to the guild lord for a house extension.
:D i think this one got through in their last interview they said guilds will be able to own keeps in the mists for world vs world which would be amazzing
It would be even cooler if the guild hall would have a set of enemies on it based off of the island its on. And you have a dynamic struggle to maintain the safety of your guild village, and its inhabitants.
This would also provide a good way to gain XP and rewards with guildmates, as well as work on battle strategies.
