My thought is something more of an add on like with Ice imps being weak vs fire damage make it so you can upgrade it with another skill called "Iceblock Shield" that nulls one fire damage based attack but reduces all others by 60%
Not some evolution thing just skills that you can add on to make it more custom to you'r play style. Or even a full skill bar set up with in it's range. make it so that the pieces lvl up themselves. Tho leveling up Polymock peices won't get health for the peice, but they'll be able to learn new skills. This will make it more intresting.
